Special Olympics

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is the single largest year-round fundraising event benefiting the Special Olympics Illinois. The Oswego Police Department participates in several events throughout the year. The events are the Polar Plunge, Cop-on-Rooftop, the Torch Run, Red Robin, and the Trivia Night. The Oswego Police Department also sells Torch Run Merchandise and raffle tickets for a chance to win a Harley Davidson Motorcycle.

The Polar Plunge is an event where brave Officers and their family members "plunge" into the frozen lake at Silver Springs State Park. This event takes place the first weekend in March every year. The Oswego Police Department participate for the past 12 years.

The Torch Run is an event where Officers, their family members, and members from other department in Kendall County run the Flame of Hope through Kendall County. We meet with the Kendall County Comets at the intersection in the county and we continue the run with the Special Olympic Athletes to the end where we have refreshments.

The Tip-a-Cop events have Officers working hand in hand with the servers at the restaurant working for "tips". Other games and prizes are offered that these events
